OMEGA DUBAI LADIES MASTERS   PDF  Print  E-mail

Small steps....

Dubai, UAE: Eva Steinberger scored a 75 (+3) in todays second round of the Omega Ladies Masters and a total of 154 (+10) after two days was 7 strokes too many for the cut. Eva now has to travel to Spain next week and try to get her tourcard in the final qualifying of the tourschool in La Manga (17.-21.Dec 2009).

"I felt better today on the course than my score showed and I started to feel what I am doing. At the end I have to say that the biggest mistake this year was the change of my coach in January. We tried hard to make the new swing work but at the end it was an idea but it did not work at all for me it might be good for other players but not for me. Before the Austrian tournament in September I was willing to quit playing and slowly my idea of a swing and my feeling is coming back since I went back to my old coach Max Baltl in September. The direction seems to be ok and but it takes longer than we hoped. All I can do now is to give my best next week in Spain and hopefully get a tourcard for 2010 and work hard during the winter to come back in good form for next season.....", Eva said.

Today she played 3 birdies, 4 bogeys and one double bogey. Eva will stay in Dubai to practice for two more days and travel to Spain via Vienna on Sunday.

Good to know the season ends...

Dubai, UAE: Eva Steinberger scored a 80 (+7) in todays first round of this years Omega Dubai Ladies Masters. It was pretty windy at the Emirates golf course when Eva started as the first player at 07.00 from the first tee after a warm up under floodlights..... After 3 hols holes Eva was 1 under par and a bogey on the 5th did not cause too much damage. Double bogeys on the 7th and 8th were unfortunate but a birdie on the 13th made her happy only for a few minutes as it was followed shortly by another bogey on the 14th. A triple bogey on the 16th was the main cause for a total of 7 over par and another missed cut is very likely....

"I misjudged the wind on the 7th and was too short on this par 3 and lost my ball in the water; the 8th is not my favorite hole and I did not manage to play it well again today. On the 16th I went in the dessert and hardly came back - the triple bogey was the result of this. On the other side I had some good strokes and the two birdies were nicely played and some of the pars were quite good. I am happy that this golf year is ending soon and look forward to 2010 and hope things will change....", said Eva after the round.

Eva will play tomorrow at 10.50 (07.50 CET) in round 2.

"We had nice weather for the practice round on Monday but today there is a sandstorm here and you can not see the skyline from the driving range which is less than 500m away....", Eva reports.

Eva will be the very first player tomorrow to start from tee 1 at 07.00 in round 1! On Thursday she will play round two at 10.50 local time.
